Imagine the delight on your dog’s face when they realise that you, the person they love more than anyone has made them biscuits.
Even better, you will have their undivided attention from the minute you start baking until their dog biscuits are cool enough to eat. They already thought you were the best thing since sliced cheese but now you have definitely got them!
This is the recipe that I use, it is so quick and simple. It only has a few ingredients and very little skill is required.
INGREDIENTS
100g Rolled Oats
70g Plain Flour
30 ml Peanut Butter *
2 Small Apples
1 Free Range Egg
METHOD
Preheat oven to 150C, 130C fan.
Core, peel and grate the apples.
Mix the oats, flour, peanut butter, grated apple and egg and a bowl until well combined.
With your dog's help roll out on a floured surface to about 1cm thick.
Use your dog's favourite cookie cutter and cut out.
Place on a lined baking tray.
Bake for approximately 15minutes depending on the size of your biscuits.
Call you dogs over…oh, they are already there at your feet where they have been since you started baking. Look how much they love you.
Please can we have a biscuit now? We’ve been unusually good.
You can ask them to sit, but if Baxter and Pickle are anything to go by, they will already be sitting. Doing their best neatest sit…the one that gets them biscuits.
YUM! Thanks, lady, they were delicious…please make some more…now!
For these biscuits, you don’t need much at all. Nothing that you won’t already have anyway. A bowl, scales, a wooden spoon and a baking tray.
I used dog bone-shaped cookie cutters that I found on Amazon and a heart-shaped cutter that I found at the back of the junk drawer. I also wore one of my wipe clean aprons…I am a messy cook!
To be perfectly honest I don’t make Bax and Pickle biscuits that often. Like you, I am busy and some days it is a challenge just to cook for me and my family. But there here are lots of lovely independent companies that sell handmade biscuits. One of my favourites is Waggie Tails Gourmet Dog Treats. Theresa makes amazing dog biscuits. Baxter and Pickle are big fans.
Do let me know if you try making these biscuits and how you got on. Did your dog love them?
If you would like to order a wipe-clean apron to keep you clean while you are making your dog biscuits you can order one here: Aprons

A crate can become your puppies favourite place to sleep, enjoy some quiet time out or just to have a lovely snooze. If your dog ever has to go on crate rest after an operation, they will already love their crate which will make the whole thing far easier your them and you. They can also be a useful aid for toilet training.
